Remand Foster Care
Remand Foster Care was established within the Suffolk YOS, to give the option, for some young people, of a community alternative to being remanded to prison or secure accommodation. These young people often benefit from the time, attention and clear boundaries that life in a Remand Foster Care family can provide. The period of time spent with foster carer’s can vary from overnight to several months depending on the complexity of the young persons situation.

The Remand Foster Care scheme is highly valued by the Suffolk Y.O.S. and we are always interested in recruiting new carers for this important role, which existing carer’s find a rewarding way to work directly with young people. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community; single people, couples and families. We do not have rigid ideas about the people who are considered for the role of carer, but they must be able to provide a high standard of emotional and physical care, to young people who frequently have complex lives.
