The Panel Meeting

Once the report is complete the young person will be asked to attend the panel meeting (he/she will be given a time and venue) along with their parent/carer. The young person can also have with them another adult to offer support; this is not as a legal representative.

The purpose of the panel is to encourage the direct involvement of the young person in order to give them a real opportunity to take responsibility for both the offending behaviour, and their future behaviour. The young person will be able to put forward the reasons why they offended and how they feel about the offence now.
