THE JUNIOR YOUTH INCLUSION PROGRAMME
WHAT IS A JYIP?
A core group of young people aged 8 to 13, deemed to be most at risk of involvement in crime and anti-social behaviour in a small, distinct area.
The aim of the programme is to prevent and reduce youth crime and anti-social behaviour within a specified high crime, high deprivation neighbourhood. This is achieved by engaging with, and advocating for, the group of young people identified by local agencies as being most at risk of involvement in crime and anti-social behaviour.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
- Voluntary particpation
- JYIP liaison with referrer to ensure parent/child aware
- Consultation with referrer to determine approach
- Appointment made
- Parental consent form signed
- Assessment completed
- Child's interest determined
- Individual action plan
- Engagement occurs at first participation in JYIP activity
- Each core group member receives at least 5 hours of interventions each week

- Schools
- Social Care Services
- Youth Offending Service
WHERE ARE THE GROUPS LOCATED?
There are presently two groups, both based in the West of the County:-
Cornard / Sudbury JYIP is based at Wells Hall Old School, Great Cornard
Stowmarket JYIP is based at Community Education Centre, Childer Road, Stowmarket
HOW DO I GET MY CHILD INVOLVED?
Contact the JYIP team on 01473 583570. A member of the team will then explain the process and arrange an initial visit.
